mica-levi.jpgMica Levi was born in 1987. She attended the Purcell School where she spent 8 years focussing primarily on the viola. She started experimenting with electronic music whilst studying for her GCSE’s leaning towards Garage, Hip Hop, Electro and as well as more experimental forms. In the sixth form at Purcell Mica embarked turned her attention more fully towards composition studying with Simon Speare and David Buckley.

Mica is currently in her third year studying composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where her teachers include Diana Burrel, Emily Hall and most recently Richard Baker. Mica has just released a mix tape under the alias “Micachu” entitled “Filthy Friends” featuring Man Like Me, Ghost Poet, Taza, Miss Bienek, Toddla T, Baker Trouble, Bruva May, Naked and the Boys, The Golden Silvers, Troyker and various remixes. Mica is currently making a pop record with Matthew Herbert for Accidental Records and is releasing a single on the Brika Brak Label.  As a performing Artist Mica has her own band “Micachu and the Shapes” and amongst her many influences Mica cites musicans as diverse as Harry Partch, Johnny Cash, The Velvet Underground, CPE Bach, Timbaland, Joy Division, Bela Bartok and Al Green.
